Manchester Met Active Learning Framework

The Manchester Met Active Learning Framework captures the essence of high quality, 21st century, future-facing, student-centred learning as reflected in active learning practices at our institution. Through its interconnected, holistic and trans-disciplinary themes, the Framework identifies a set of core principles for developing active learning curricula.

How it was developed

The Active Learning Framework was developed in 2025 by Lead Innovation Scholars for Active Learning based on the thematic analysis of one-to-one conversations with educational innovators (c.50) from disciplines across the institution. The Framework both reflects what we do, and also acts as an aspirational guide for curriculum review and learning design. Make it work for you; test it, apply it, adapt it, and feedback to us.
